Who Can Hire
- You must be 18 years or older to make a booking.
- The named hirer must be present throughout the event.
- Sub-letting is not permitted.
Event Details
- Type of Event: Please describe the function (e.g., birthday party, meeting). For birthdays, include the age.
- Timing: Include time for arrival, set-up, the event itself, clearing away (allow at least 30 mins), and departure.
- If you will be away from the venue at any point (e.g., attending Mass or going home to change), please state this for caretaker planning.

Toilets in the hall foyer are shared with other parish users.
Facilities and Extras
- Kitchen access included.
- Catering: Available on request – please speak to the Bookings Secretary.
- Furniture Setup: We will contact you two days before your event to confirm arrangements.
Special Requirements
- Planning entertainment (e.g., DJs, live music, bouncy castles)? Please notify us in advance.

- The hirer is responsible for the organisation and supervision of all entertainment.
Hire Charges
Deposit & Payment
- Deposit: At least 50% of hire cost, non-refundable.
- Your booking is provisional until the form and deposit are received (within 7 days of issue).
- Indemnity Fee: £50
- Refunded within 28 working days after the event if no damage, noise complaints, or outstanding fees. Cheques must be banked, not held.
- Final Balance: Due at least 14 days before the event.
- For short-notice bookings (less than 2 weeks), full payment is required immediately.
How to Pay
- Cash or cheque only (payable to St Ambrose’s Parish)
- Place payment in an envelope clearly marked ‘Bookings Secretary’
- Post to or drop through the door at St Ambrose’s Rectory (address on booking form)
Cancellations
- With 30+ days’ notice, 50% of the hire cost will be refunded.
- The indemnity fee is always refunded if the event does not go ahead.
Additional Notes
Alcohol:
- No licensed bar on site – guests may bring their own drinks.
- You must appoint two stewards to oversee alcohol use. A separate form will be required.
- External bar services are allowed but must be arranged independently.
Parking:
- Shared with other users – please do not block others.
- Be especially cautious during school drop-off/pick-up times.
- The main entrance and defibrillator cabinet must remain accessible.
Noise & Music:
- All music must stop by 10:30 PM
- Venue must be vacated by 11 PM
- Rear doors are emergency exits only – please keep them closed.
Respect for Space:
- The adjoining garden, school grounds, and caretaker’s home are private.
- Do not access the garden unless in an emergency.
- Do not cover or remove religious items (e.g., crucifixes or holy pictures).
Safety & Conduct:
- No smoking or vaping inside.
- No dogs (except assistance dogs).
- Leave the venue as you found it—no tack on brick, tape on wood/glass, and no cotton wool.
Licensing:
- The Centre does not hold TheMusicLicence. Hirers must ensure DJs or entertainers have appropriate rights.
Insurance:
- The Parish has public liability insurance, but you are advised to consider your own cover for events or activities held.
Right to Cancel:
- The Parish reserves the right to cancel or stop any event if necessary, including during the hire period.
- Damage beyond the indemnity fee may be recovered through legal means.
